9th USKFI National Championships

Sensei Michael Sherlock presents Anna Zukova with the 'Best Overall Performer' trophy after she took both the Senior Female Kumite and Kata individual titles, as well as coming 2nd in the Brown and black Belt Team Kata event.

Pictured above receiving her 'Best Overall Performer' award from Senseis Michael Sherlock and David Royle is Leeanne Royle, who had a tremendously successful day winning the 9-11 years Ippon Kumite Green-Black Belt, the 10 Years and Under Individual Kata, the Under 16 Brown and Black Belt Kata and also the Brown and Black Belt Team Kata.

The USKFI held its National Championships at the IT Blanchardstown last weekend. Over 160 entrants took part in the competition which is now in its 9th year. The day was action-packed from start to finish, with some excellent kata performances and exciting kumite matches to make for an electric atmosphere. Particularly impressive were the attitudes of several of the junior competitors, who showed real determination and an excellent attitude to improve on their performances in previous competitions.

Our thanks go to the staff and management at the IT Blanchardstown, all the referees, judges, timekeepers, volunteers and First Aid whose hard work made the day run so smoothly. Congratulations also go to all the competitors, who showed very positive attitudes and performed so well on the day.

More photos of the action on the day plus all the trophy winners still to come. Watch this space.....
