Senior USKFI members returned to Scotland
recently for a weekend’s training with top KUGB instructor Sensei Frank
Brennan, 7th Dan. The group trained at three clubs: Largs karate
club on Scotland’s West coast, Gourock Karate club near Glasgow and at the Glasgow Karate Academy, whose
grading was held in the town of Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow. Sensei Brennan, as usual, provided students with insightful and
technically challenging training sessions. The USKFI contingent also enjoyed the
high standard of training with their Scottish counterparts and was made feel
very welcome by club instructors and students alike in all the clubs they
visited. The weekend, which is now cemented in the USKFI calendar as an annual
event, would not have been possible without the organisational skills of
Barbara Casey of Glasgow Karate Academy. Particular thanks go to senior
club instructors Mark McKinlay and Gordon McKay from Largs, David Gillies from
Gourock and Ben Fail from Glasgow (pictured above with USKFI karateka and Sensei Brennan) for their kind hospitality shown to the USKFI visitors.
