In The Japan Karate Shotorenmei Ireland Autumn Championships on Saturday, the USKF squad did very well. Earlier in the Day the USKFs Navan Shotokan KArate Club did excellent with many students reaching the semi finals, beating opponents of much higher grades. Aliraza Shah took first place in the under 15's kata category, while his team mate Leon Hoban took fourth place in the under 10's category. Well done to them both!

The USKF Cadets cleaned up with brilliant kumite displays. In the female Cadets kumite, Corduffs Aoife Farrelly had an excellent battle, scoring with a brilliant ushiro geri, followed with an unbelievably fast ushiro mawashigeri jodan to score ippon. She eventually came second after narrowly missing out to Debra Chan of the JKS.
In the senior ladies kumite, both Eleanore and Georgia Coates narrowly missed out on medals owing to some controversial judging. However, both came joint third in the senior ladies kata.
Later the USKF male cadets, entered the senior male and senior team kumite. The senior male kumite was won by Santrys Alan McCann, with his team mate James Farrelly coming second. Then in what was the highlight of the day, The USKF male cadets cleaned up in the senior male kumite winning every match with clinical efficiency.
Well done!
