Before its second dan grading of the year, the USKFI hosted a course under KUGb Chief Instructor, Sensei Andy Sherry 8th dan and Sensei Frank Brennan 7th dan. The class was split, with Sensei Sherry intially taking dan grades and Sensei Brennan the kyu grades. Both instructors worked on khion, through measured single techniques before moving on to combinations appropriate to each grade. Both Senseis spent time with students, correcting individuals and answering questions. Half way through the class, the senseis moved to the opposite group for kata. Sensei Brennan took the black belts through bassai dai before the higher grades moved on to an in-depth instruction of Niju Shio. Sensei Sherry took the kyu grades through their grading katas before finishing with ippon kumite practice.
Approximately 80 USKFI students trained on the class which led to a charged atmosphere in the dojo. The organisation was delighted with the high turnout which highlights the level of dedication of its students towards the end of a busy and successful year. Senseis Sherry and Brennan will be back to instruct at the USKFI's dojos in 2011.
