Huntstown SKC Success at the USKFI Nationals

Huntstown SKC had a fantastic day at the 10th USKFI National Championships on the 8th of May in Blanchardstown ITB. Huntstown SKC students found themselves in the finals of many events.
Nicole Dillon had a fantastic day in the under 10’s Ippon Kumite event finding herself in a very exciting final, also Ryan Norton put in a brilliant performance in the under 10’s Kata event performing a very strong Heian Godan and was unlucky to be beaten to the Gold. Abbie Norton competing for the first time in the Girls Kumite event did excellently to be place joint 3rd alongside her fellow Huntstown SKC team mate Erica Henderson.  The outstanding individual performance of the day came from Ciaran Caulfield who competed in the Boys Kumite. Ciaran went through many rounds showing a mature and tactical fighting style which brought him to the final. Ciaran was just beaten at the final stage by a more experienced competitor, but showed the quality and attitude that should make this competitive year very exciting for Ciaran.
The most satisfying result of the day for all involved with Huntstown SKC came when Huntstown SKC won both Team kata events on the day. The junior team (Nicole Dillion, Ryan Norton, Abbie Norton) winning the White-Purple Belt Event and the senior team (Darragh Rothwell, Erica Henderson, Zara Daly) winning the brown-Black Belt Event. Huntstown SKC instructor James Farrelly was victorious in the final event of the day the senior male individual kumite.
